Hello and welcome to our new website. We’re doing what we can to get this site off the ground, so please bear with us as we work to make it a reality.
I’m Jeff Johnson, the host of GameOnGNT and I figured I would take this moment to tell you a little bit about GameOnGNT’s past and how we got to where we are today.
First, let’s talk about the name, GameOnGNT. GameOn is pretty self expanatory (as 500 other gaming blogs or sites named GameOn will tell you), but the GNT part of our name is not.
At first, the GNT was to recognize our affiliation with GameNTrain, the website where I first began doing everything GameOn and video game blogging in general. However over time, I found that GameOn, with its focus on gaming and geek culture, was sharing little to no resemblance to the gaming and fitness messaging that GameNTrain possessed and the decision was made last year for us to leave GameNTrain.
The challenge created by such a move is reworking existing branding. Since nearly every logo and piece of branding GameOn had involved GNT is some way or another, what could be done to rework that imaging without starting fresh and new with everything? After a while of sitting down and looking hard at what GameOn’s content was all about and what drove our content, the answer became clear.
Gaming News and Talk.
Gaming is clearly a huge part of everything we do, from gameplay videos to reviews to interviews and discussion pieces. Even board games or unconventional games are a part of our life and part of our discussions.
News is the next key part of what we do, as news around gaming and other elements of geek culture (anime, conventions, Cosplay, comic books, etc) are front and center in our Thoughts of the Day videos and our podcasts. If something interesting comes up in the news, you can bet we’ll be talking about it at some point.
And finally, Talk. If you know me, you know I can’t live without talking. Literally, I make a living off my voice through my day job as a morning news anchor at my local radio station. It should be no doubt to see our content reflect that part of my professional life. From regular podcasts to interviews and gameplay commentaries, you’ll find talking is a regular part of what we do.
So GameOnGNT became your source for Gaming, News and Talk overnight and with our affiliation with GameNTrain officially ending at the beginning of June, it only made sense for us to find a new website to call home. I entertained the idea of finding a new home for what we do and found some awesome websites along the way, (Check out Geeked Out Nation and SoVideoGaming when you have the chance!) but I’m the end, I figured it would be best to make our own home as opposed to joining a new one. And that’s why you are reading this blog now.
So you can expect more great content from GameOnGNT going ahead. I’m looking to bring you some new content at least 4 days a week and keep strengthening the content we bring you!
We’re also looking to bring on new contributors here as well. If you’re looking to make YouTube videos or write blogs around video games, reach out to us here at GameOnGNT! Just send us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
That’s all I’ve got for you today! Be sure to stop in, check out some of our past content archived here or on our YouTube channel and let us know what you think! We’d love to hear from you!
